Amerigo Vespucci was born in Florence, Italy in 1452 many others may have found America before Amerigo but he claimes he discovered it and called it after himselves.
Sailing for Spain
In 1499 Vespucci sailed to spain with four ships with Captain Alonso de Ojeda. After 24 days they reached the Northern coast of South America. Captin Alonso and Vespucci went their diffrent ways, Vespucci went south and he bacame the first European to see Brazil and to travel the Amazon. On Vespucci's way back to Spain he stopped in the Bahamas and he picked up 200 Native slaves :(
